So I've been using this software on and off for some months now and I must say I love it! It's great for a quick 5 minute game, and also if your feeling tired and stressed out it certainly seems to wake my brain up! I've been travelling a fair bit over the past months into different timezones and I've often pulled out this game for a quick brain refresh!

Some of the tasks seem very simple, but when you add in the pressure of more points for finishing quickly I often make stupid mistakes, which then costs me more points!

When you first install the game it enters one of it's two modes, namely Brain marking mode. The result of the Brain Marking test is your Overall Progress and Brain Status, which can be one of Child, Schoolboy, Student, Intern, PhD, Professor, and Nobel Prize Winner, depending on your overall score. I was marked as a child initially, and have managed to improve to Schoolboy level!! You can return at anytime you wish and re-run the Brain Mark test.

The second of the two modes is Brain Training, where you play one of 10 mini games in order to train and exercise your brain! Depending on how many points you acheive you can move onto harder versions of the games and also unlock more games by moving up difficulty levels in the games that are open to you.

The ten games are described below in a little detail with screenshots. Each games is easy to pick and play, there are no complicated rules, which is part of the appeal to me.

1. Sudoku - the famous puzzle game with thousands of levels included.

Probably the most used skill when playing Sudoku is pattern finding.

2. Numbers - an arithmetic game with a very addictive gameplay, where you need to select groups of numbers to match a total you are given.

3. Quadronica - a game where you need to find rectangles with like-coloured corners to make them disappear.

4. Guess Who - a game with simple rules that is great training for pattern-finding and searching activities, trickier than it looks!

5. Memorica - a game to train your visual memory. Memorica is a 100% short memory game which I find very hard!!

6. Encyclopedia - a game that not only trains your memory, but also gives lots of interesting facts.

Encyclopedia is a 100% short memory game.

7. Minesweeper - a well-known game to train and improve your logic skills.

8. Matches - a game for spending hours of free time trying to solve great matches puzzles (logic skills).

9. Balltracker - a game to improve your path-finding and backtracking activities.

10. Arithmetics - a game that trains mental arithmetic, which is very important for increasing overall brain progress and making your mind faster and more flexible. The sums in this game are fairly simple, but speed also counts!

What Else do you get?

As well as the above games, you also get to read some interesting facts at the end of your gaming session. I normally groan when I see things like this, but I've read all the ones presented to me so far and found them fairly interesting and informative.

There are two other important things to mention, the first being Bonuses and Awards. Different types of awards are provided to stimulate the player. These are 10 awards for best play for each of the mini-games, the Training Program Completion Certificate, and the Nobel Prize Winner Certificate.

Secondly SPB Brain Evolution supports User Profiles so that you can share the game with your family and friends without them loosing or increasing your game progress. You can make as many user profiles as you want and each player has his or her own status, in-game progress, and game statistics.

Conclusion

I'm not a hard core gamer, and want games I can quickly pick up and play, without having to master an myriad of controls, or complex timing moves. This game is right up my street and has been the only game I've ever tried that I've kept on all the devices I've owned - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
